Overview
Medical Testing Associate I - Albuquerque, NM - Monday - Friday 3:00PM - 11:30PM
This position receives, processes, and distributes specimens to the appropriate testing location. Prepares reagents, label tubes and specimen containers for testing. Loads and unloads patient samples onto specified instruments. Assists medical technologists with multiple routine and specialty assays utilizing established procedures. Perform waived and moderate complexity testing under supervision. Performs customer service duties.
Pay Range: $17.20 per hour
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities
Under limited supervision, and in accordance with Company policies, procedures and guidelines, this position:
- Receives blood specimens sent to laboratory. Prepares specimens for testing. Discards specimens after testing or stores for future reference according to policy. Maintains integrity or specimen from collection to testing area or reference laboratory.
- Test specimens of patients of all ages, including neonates, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric according to CLIA guidelines, under the direction of a general supervisor. MTA I performs waived complexity testing and limited moderate complexity testing.
- Complies with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Receives requested stock items and distributes them to the appropriate place within the laboratory.
- Performs quality control and instrument check procedures, quality assurance, and maintains related records.
- Assists in the care and maintenance of lab work area, furnishings and equipment.
- Prepares solutions and reagents used in lab tests. Maintains adequate level of supplies in the work area. Assists with monthly inventory.
- Participates in safety training, follows laboratory guidelines including hazardous materials and waste handling, life safety, medical equipment safety, accident reporting and security.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Work Experience:
Minimum one-year experience in a health care facility.
Preferred Work Experience:
Medical Laboratory Assistant experience is preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Light to moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.). Heavier weights with assistance.
- Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
- Must be able to hear, see and respond adequately.
- Frequent prolonged standing/walking/sitting.
- Must wear personal protective equipment to include lab coat, gloves and face shield.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Medical terminology highly desirable.
- Understand meaning of words, ideas associated with them, and their effective use.
Skills:
- Computer data entry skills highly desirable.
- Ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately.
- Ability to perceive pertinent details and verbal or tabular materials.
- Ability to understand instructions, reason, and make judgments.
