Position Summary
Responsible for leading the Quest nutrition and guest experience efforts, in order to provide vision, leadership and strategic guidance to the company in these areas. Ensures that Quest vision, values and founding principles are effectively communicated and practiced. Oversee the nutritional aspects of the School Nutrition Program (SNP). The SNP administers the National School Lunch, School Breakfast, After School Snack, dinner program, along with other Federal meal programs and outside contracts. This district has 9 locations and approximately 4,500 students.
Dietitian Responsibilities:
- Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to schools and other stakeholders. Develops menus and recipes to meet federal nutrition regulations with input from students, parents, and staff.
- Manages effective utilization of commodity inventory. Manages Smart Snack a la carte program. Researches products, updates product lists, and provides guidance to staff.
- Develops bid specifications for food contracts, ensuring nutritional and budgetary objectives are met. Develops customized strategies for each student to ensure safety and program access.
- Attends food shows, collaborates with vendors, and conducts student taste testing. Attends 504 and IEP meetings. Trains cafeteria personnel to meet individual student plan needs.
- Handles requests for special diets and allergens, communicating with parents, school personnel, cafeteria staff, nurses, and physicians.
- Provides carbohydrate counts to nurses and parents for diabetic students.
Dietitian Requirements:
- Requires bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential or RD-eligibility with requirement of passing RD exam within 6 months of hire, preferred.
- Requires ServSafe® Manager certification or ability to pass ServSafe Manager® exam within 3 months of hire. ServSafe® Instructor and Proctor certifications preferred.
- K12 food service experience strongly preferred
- Three years of experience in food service management
