Responsibilities
- Complies with nursing policies and procedures to ensure nursing standards are met. Promotes optimal health for clients
- Administers medications and treatments per physician’s orders and in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- Administer medications via all routes, without restriction, including controlled substances
- Must be able to assist clients with all health and medical devices, including but not limited to glasses, hearing devices, tracheotomies, G/J tubes, colostomies, urostomies, apnea monitors, CPAP machines, ventilators, oxygen, oxygen concentrators, nebulizer machines, suction devices, suctioning toothbrushes, etc.
- Monitors clients for seizures, medication side effects, signs, and symptoms of illness, and provides necessary nursing interventions
- Performs clinical assessments of client’s health status as needed
- Informs the physician of health status change/accidents, and injuries of clients. Notifies Director of Nursing or Health Care Coordinator of emergency situations
- Completes all required documentation including but not limited to assessments, nurses notes, tracking forms, charting, incident reports, monthly/quarterly reports, etc.
- Assists with quality assurance reviews, files documents in charts, and purges charts
- Assists with oversight of nursing services in group homes, to include teaching Medication Administration classes. Completes medication validation, and documentation as required by APD (65G-7) guidelines
- Assists with Respiratory Therapy and IV Therapy as needed to include pushing IV medications and mixing of IV medications
- Assists with clinical evaluations and assessment of medication administration and /or understanding of medical procedures of clients
- Attends and participates in meetings and trainings
- Ensures client’s mealtime procedures and therapeutic positioning procedures, including client transfers, are followed
- Ensures Infection Control Policies and Procedures are followed
- Ensures all equipment, including but not limited to, respiratory carts, drugs, and treatment carts, feeding pumps, crash carts, etc., are clean and sanitary
- Ensures a clean and safe environment to avoid accidents or injury to clients or staff
- In case of an employee injury, completes required documentation, administers First Aid if necessary, and follows worker’s compensation protocols
- Participates in facility emergency procedures as needed, such as emergency evacuations
- Follows notification protocol for accidents, injuries, emergencies, and other events within appropriate timeline
- Reports to work for scheduled shifts. May be scheduled to work other shifts, holidays, and weekends to provide nursing coverage
- Reports to work during inclement weather to provide nursing coverage and assist with emergency procedures
- Participates in outings and appointments, including, but not limited to, loading, and unloading clients on and off vehicles, monitoring clients during transport, and assisting clients during outings
- Completes housekeeping duties as needed to ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment (to include, but not limited to, picking up gloves, med cups, and cleaning up spilled formula)
- Ensures compliance with Quest’s policies and procedures
- Assists with training new employees as needed
- Completes all other duties as assigned
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school for Registered Nurses required
- Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida required
- Florida Driver’s License with no more than two moving violations in the past three years
- Able to work in the US and not require Visa Sponsorship from our company now or in the future
- Effectively communicate at all levels, write, and speak English using acceptable grammar, punctuation, and spelling, understand and follow multi-steps written and verbal instructions
- Accurately complete nursing documentation
- Use Electronic Medical Record system
- Use functional math, analyze, and assess data, and determine appropriate actions
- Organize and prioritize workflow to meet deadlines
- Work independently without constant supervision and complete work tasks to completion
- Problem-solve and use good judgement when making decisions
- Conduct self in a professional and courteous manner
- Keep information confidential and refrain from gossip, set appropriate professional boundaries with all staff
- Proficiently use a computer and electronic medical records
- Mobilize resources to meet the business needs of any program
