About our Apprentice Program

Our program is a four-year, tuition-free program and teaches all aspects of the plumbing and pipefitting trades. Our apprenticeship program combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction which teaches apprentices the practical and hands-on aspects of highly skilled occupations while receiving a free education. Our instructors are trade professionals with real world experience who can apply their own careers in the education process. Apprentices work full time for QuesTec, Monday through Friday, and attend class twice monthly.

Primary Duties

  • Attend Apprenticeship classes twice a month
  • Learn and assist in fabricating, assembling, installing, repairing, or replacing plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and control used to transport water, waste, gases, or hot liquids
  • Work in cooperation with all co-workers as well as other trades and laborers to ensure that all specifications, building codes (local and state), safety regulations, and legal requirements are met
  • Accept directions and guidance from QuesTec journeymen, foremen, and field supervisor
  • Ensure efficient completion of all projects, being aware of productivity at all times
  • Perform manual labor tasks that prepare the work area for construction

Characteristics and Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old and have their high school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable, daily transportation
  • Willing to travel to a variety of commercial job sites within a reasonable radius of home address
  • Exposure to construction trades or shop classes/trade school is preferred
  • Experience doing manual labor and working outdoors
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively and respectfully
  • Willingness to obtain OSHA 10 upon hire

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift 35 pounds on own
  • Ability to push, pull, carry, and maneuver heavy items (with additional manpower or appropriate tools)
  • Ability to withstand long periods of standing, squatting, stooping, and crawling (stationary positions up to 50% of time)
  • Ability to feel, grasp, operate and position items with fingers and hands
  • Ability to effectively perform work at ground level, above ground level, below ground level and in confined spaces such as pipe shafts, crawl spaces, tunnels, and basins

Job Types: Full-time, Apprenticeship

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
