Our client is a fast-growing insurance brokerage based in Frisco, Texas seeking a Sr. Employee Benefits Account Manager!

General Job Description

The Account Manager, Employee Benefits, will serve as the primary contact for a key block of business and is responsible for managing each client's utmost satisfaction. The purpose of this position is to evaluate the needs and risks of existing and prospective clients and to help create a benefit strategy specific to those needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage a key book of business, which will be composed of clients located both locally and nationally.
  • Act as the primary contact between each client and each respective insurance carrier.
  • Retain each client through proactive account management, expert-level thought leadership, clear communications, and active relationship maintenance.
  • Identify each client's problems and needs, develop the ideal solution set, execute identified solution set, and monitor the results while being prepared to change your solution set based on each client's changing problems and needs (i.e. budgetary constraints, administration, staffing hurdles, etc.).
  • Communicate, communicate, communicate regularly with both internal and external teams.
  • Support, contribute, and lead strategic conversations during internal team meetings and external client meetings.
  • Understand the intricacies involved with underwriting (i.e. fully insured vs. self-funding alternatives), population health management, state and federal level compliance, employee communications, benefit administration technologies, and benefit administration processes.
  • Educate and advise clients on all Compliance topics including, but not limited to ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s and Health Care Reform (resources will be provided to assist).
  • Interact with clients and vendors independently to ensure proper administration of accounts (i.e. contract concerns, underwriting issues, claim situations, etc.).
  • Draft Request for Proposals (RFPs) for review, make requested edits to RFPs, distribute RFPs to insurance carrier market and/or prospective clients, ensure timely response by insurance carriers and/or prospective clients, summarize insurance carrier proposals and/or prospective client responses for review.
  • Communicate daily with insurance companies, vendors, and internal teams to ensure proper administration of accounts (including contract concerns, underwriting issues, claim situations, etc.). Resolve outstanding issues or client requests.
  • Work with various resources to ensure that the most competitive renewal is maintained for each client, each renewal.
  • Analyze and understand carrier contracts for new and existing plan implementation and client communication.
  • Create client proposals as necessary with current and renewal details as well as marketplace options. Communicate final placement details and instructions to insurers and customers.
  • Understand and be able to message Stryde Group's tailored customer service approach.
  • Maintain and create positive working relationships with co-workers, clients, prospective clients, and insurance carriers.
  • Administer renewals including preparing appropriate contractual changes.
  • Manage client files (electronically) for each client in accordance to Stryde Group's processes.
  • Analyze client data YoY and be able to build a story to use for client

recommendations.

  • Help administer benefit plans as needed for each client.
  • Create compliance materials using 3rd Party resources available.
  • Stay active and current in relevant industry topics so that each client knows where it stands across industry standards.
  • Implement changes to client employee benefit processes.
  • Install new group insurance contracts for existing clients or new clients effectively utilizing resources to match client needs.
  • Lead employee-level support when needed to resolve issues related to billing, enrollment, insurance FAQs, and claims.
  • Develop employee memorandum drafts for client to communicate the following annual renewal changes, enrollment procedures, miscellaneous benefit changes and/or clarifications.
  • Create and/or update employee-level communication materials needed for each client.
  • Expect miscellaneous duties to be assigned due to the fast-paced work environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in employee benefits, human resources, or related field.
  • 4-year college degree highly preferred.
  • Prior customer service experience preferred.
  • Must currently hold life and disability insurance license (or must obtain within 3-months following date of employment) and retain license by meeting the continuing education requirements.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Enthusiastic attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, sensitive to client needs, self-motivated, creative and innovative.
  • Interact with others effectively by utilizing good communication skills, cooperating purposefully and providing information and guidance, as needed, to achieve the business goals of the company.
  • Ability to participate and support the development of fellow service team members as needed.
  • Promote teamwork by sharing experiences, assisting others when help is needed and maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Project a professional image in action and appearance.
  • Strong ability to problem solve, make independent decisions with minimal

oversight, set and meet deadlines, communicate, negotiate, work under pressure, organize, prioritize, manage multiple tasks and operate in a fast paced environment.

  • Keep informed and further industry education, new product knowledge, legislation, coverage’s and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Good at attention to detail and ability to self-check work.
  • Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
