We are seeking a dynamic Junior Software Engineering Manager to lead and inspire a team of software engineers and product professionals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage a small to moderate team of 4 to 8 software engineers and product people
- Run necessary Scrum ceremonies within managed teams including daily stand ups, backlog grooming, and tactical planning as well as leveraging supporting tools.
- Gather and report key performance metrics to leadership.
- Coordinate short-term planning and task prioritization to ensure department initiatives and goals are successful.
- Focus on fostering a smart, kind, and driven team culture and psychological safety.
- Identify and onboard engineering and product talent necessary to support established goals, and work with upper management to surface team needs.
- Responsible for working with product to bring product knowledge and known customer's needs to team.
- Work with product and technical leads to meet the needs of stakeholders.
- Executes initiative and sprint goals, works to resolve blockers, and escalates potential issues to leadership.
- Share appropriate context with team and peers to ensure individual clarity.
- Drives performance of team in executing short-term goals.
- Conducts regular 1:1's, supports individual accountability and growth, and reviews team member performance regularly.
- Partner with Technical Leadership to help develop senior talent.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree preferred.
- 0 years of direct experience leading teams.
- 4 years of industry experience in either an engineering, product management, or leadership role.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams of software engineers and product team members to achieve individual and project goals.
- Understands foundational people management concepts.
- Able to resolve conflict and provide difficult feedback.
- Seeks understanding of the business needs to participate in navigating impacts and tradeoffs.
- Active listening skills and empathetic.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems and tasks and ability to think abstractly.
- Detail-oriented.
- If you are tasked to drive as a part of this role, then it is required that you have a clean driving record and a current Driver's License that is not suspended or expired.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
