Position: Vice President

Position Overview

Our Vice Presidents hold a Senior Management position within the company, report to the Sr. Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and play a key role in setting strategic initiatives and leading efforts to accomplish corporate goals. The Vice President has responsibility for building relationships with customers and developing and managing the commercial business in their Division with full P&L responsibility. Vice Presidents also must lead and build cross functional teams to provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities of the Position

  • While carrying out daily responsibilities safety and compliance must be the priority. Takes personal responsibility for safety and champions company-wide safety goal of zero incidents. Participates as a key contributor in developing and implementing corrective actions regarding incidents and accidents.

  • Directly and indirectly manages and influences staff with the goal of enhancing professional development and personal growth and assuring active succession planning. Provides coaching and feedback to direct reports. Supports initiatives to act when required upon to support customer requirements. Facilitates meetings to ensure the goals and timing are clear to the team.

  • Carries out core values into the organization and all aspects of doing business ensuring employees feel empowered to uphold them.

  • Drafts or approves and reviews all new customer pricing. Strategizes and approves and reviews all yearly price increases and proposals. Reviews invoices daily focusing on overall gross margin. Reviews weekly sales reports as well as financial statements. Communicates financial statement results at a high level for key stakeholders. Holds salespeople accountable for GM targets. Holds operations team accountable for OM targets and headcount.

  • Drives collaboration within the business unit to identify needs and develop solutions to problems. Collaborates with stakeholders to achieve goals. Collaborates with the Sr. Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of the company around strategy, people, and the current state of the marketplace and competitive landscape. Provides updates as needed.

  • Be forward thinking and address issues or problems before they arise. Analyzes organizational structure to ensure optimal performance of the team as well as cost efficiencies. Do the same regarding the competitive landscape involving people, products, and the market and attempt to draw strategies to win. Illustrate empathy and emotional intelligence of all facets of business regarding people.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred; Business, Mining, Economics preferred majors.

  • Must have experience managing business units with revenues exceeding $60M.

  • Must be a proven leader with 15 years of senior leadership ability in the explosives industry or related field.

  • Extensive knowledge of safety systems with the ability to develop corrective actions and mitigate risk.

  • Extensive practical and technical blasting experiences of more than 20 years and a solid understanding of the customer value chain of drilling and blasting.

  • Ability to understand financial statements and sales reports.

  • Possesses strong strategic and conceptual thinking skills with the ability to execute plans to meet company objectives, making important decisions that have impact to the company.

  • Have strong commercial acumen and have strong operational experience. Ability to formulate and execute business plans. Be an excellent project manager and oversee the development of new sites and sales territories.

  • Position requires ability to pass a background check conducted by the ATF to possess and handle explosives and hold Responsible Person's status.

Work Environment

  • This position typically works remotely in general office conditions spending several hours on a daily basis conducting phone calls, responding to various communications, and participating in online meetings. Environment is fast paced with need to meet multiple deadlines.

  • Regular and frequent travel is necessary to company locations, customer job sites, offices or meetings and company and industry events year-round in all weather conditions.

  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, bend, twist, climb on rough terrain with uneven surfaces.

  • Frequent exposure to heavy equipment and quarry/mine conditions.

  • Travel by air up to 20%, by vehicle up to 5-6 hours at a time. Overnight travel 35-45%.
