POSITION SUMMARY: The incumbent is responsible for developing products for building and supporting the fiber optic network and other applications and their production processes.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
- To design products’ electrical elements such as overall electrical circuit, power management, sensors and actuator control and communication functions between internal modules (I2C, SPI etc.) and external (Ethernet, SNMP, wireless cellular etc.) competitively by performing engineering research, experiment, simulation calculations, production processes by developing fixtures and equipment to meet desired goals, based on actual hands-on experiments, considering their safety, durability, mass production environment and total target cost.
- To achieve final goals by hands-on physical experiments to make objective data/evidence-based decisions, considering the product's final application/purpose, safety, long term environmental reliability and practical manufacturability as well as our company's strategy on user's satisfaction and total cost target, prioritizing company's immediate interests over personal working style if there are conflicts, frequent communication and confirmation with the supervisor and team members, following supervisor's direction and team's consensus, practical planning, constant monitoring and proper adjustment with supervisor’s confirmation if deviated, hands-on prototype fabrication and experiment, independently or as part of a group, logical evaluation explanation with scientific data analysis, proper documentation.
- To study and adopt any new knowledge, and hardware and software tools necessary to accomplish the target project, updated industry standards and necessary certifications on the related products, fiber optic communication technology basics and trends, micro optics basics and trends.
- To support the Engineering Department for efficient company operation by communicating closely with the team members in this office and at other locations, assisting in other engineer's tasks as a team member when necessary, doing routine or maintenance work to improve the environment when it is necessary, handling unexpected working situations and report to supervisor immediately, adhering to company policies, and safety regulations compliance, carrying out other miscellaneous duties as may be assigned by management.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Essential Educational/Experience Requirements: Four-year college (B.S.) or equivalent.
Essential Skills/Traits: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Engineering software; Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software and Drafting software. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The incumbent must be self-motivated, and be able to communicate well with all staff levels. Must have good math, verbal and written communication skills; must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence; the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. In addition, the candidate must be capable of functioning well in a multinational organization with diverse cultures and backgrounds.

If the incumbent is allergic to any of these chemicals or develops an allergic reaction, the incumbent must immediately inform his/her supervisor. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Travel: The position requires 10% - 20% travel.
