General Description:

As a System Administrator you are to maintain, upgrade and manage our software, hardware, networks, and system applications. You will also look at specific software, hardware or operational issues that arise from clients. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and efficiently. You should be able to manage and execute projects and report progress, both tasks and against the company budget. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users amongst the company. 

Requirements

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

Hardware Support on the Warehouse Floor (Approximately 60% of Time):

  • Demonstrate mechanical and technical skills for installing devices, including cameras and wireless access points (WAPs).
  • Provide support and repair for office and label printers, including ordering necessary parts, supplies, and toner.
  • Physically replace wireless access points (WAPs), cameras on ceilings or other devices
  • Must be willing to learn and adhere to safety procedures for working at elevated heights, including the operation of a scissor lift (training provided).
  • Address printer jams and perform simple roller cleaning and fuser replacements for HP and Xerox printers.
  • Clean Zebra printers using appropriate cleaning substances.
  • Replace thermal printheads.
  • Clean and maintain labels to ensure they print clearly and without artifacts.
  • Perform basic hardware network support, such as terminating Ethernet connections.
  • Remove and dispose of retired equipment.
  • Relocate workstations, printers, monitors, and other logistical setups as needed.
  • Test and ensure functionality of equipment in new or relocated setups.
  • Lift and move items up to 50 lbs., including printers and UPS devices
  • Executes tasks and projects as directed by site leaders, ensuring alignment with facility goals and priorities.
  • Proactively seeks and receives input and guidance from site leadership to ensure effective performance.

Operations & Software Support (20%):

  • Proactively assist colleagues with IT needs, recognizing that they may not always seek help.
  • Participate in an on-call schedule for remote support and potential on-site after-hours assistance.
  • Collaborate with vendors to support third-party applications, including submitting tickets and testing solutions.
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages, documenting postmortem investigations.
  • Understand industry-standard password and security requirements.
  • Support multi-factor authentication (MFA) setup.
  • Set up phone email accounts (Office 365).
  • Provide laptop/desktop support, including joining Azure Entra/AD.
  • Offer Microsoft Office application support, such as MFA recovery, password resets, and resolving OneDrive sync issues.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and Outlook Teams is highly advantageous.
  • \Actively look for and help folks (they won’t always approach out)
  • Troubleshoot issues, outages, and have the ability to create postmortem investigations and documentation
  • Understanding of industry-standard password & security requirements
  • Ability to support MFA set up

  • Set up Windows 11 and configure
  • Microsoft Office app support
  • Recover MFA / reset passwords
  • OneDrive issues / sync issues
  • SharePoint knowledge a huge (security, permissions, etc)
  • Outlook & Teams (both Mac & PC)
  • Upgrade software with new releases and models
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies and systems

Project Involvement (20%):

  • Clear print queues and remap printer connections (USB or Network).
  • Test signal strength and performance of handheld devices.
  • Order toner and other necessary equipment and parts.
  • Liaise with vendors for on-site support and maintenance (e.g., Xerox).
  • Provide feedback on new software releases and conduct basic user training.
  • Coordinate with vendors for on-site maintenance, installations, cable runs, and other IT-related solutions.
  • Manage assets by monitoring usage, acquiring new hardware, and retiring old hardware.
  • Evaluate, notify, and quote necessary equipment for review.
  • Monitor equipment usage and age, making recommendations for alternatives or replacements.
  • Collaborate with IT and operations teams to set up, debug, and train staff on software and hardware usage.
  • Set up accounts and workstations, with Azure experience being advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory (AD) or Azure is beneficial.
  • In-depth understanding of Zebra label printer operation and functionality.
  • Demonstrated ability to configure Zebra label printers for various applications.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing Zebra label printer hardware and software issues.
  • Expertise in installing, configuring, and managing Zebra printer drivers.

Highly Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in logistics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Azure.

Work Environment:

  • Work Environment: This position requires daily on-site work at the facility and is primarily performed on a warehouse floor.
  • Environmental Factors: The environment may be dusty, dirty, and noisy at times.
  • Physical Demands (Related to Environment):
  • Requires frequent and prolonged standing for extended periods.
  • Involves significant walking long distances within the large warehouse facility.
  • Requires regular walking between two separate warehouse buildings, including crossing truck yard areas.
  • Also includes the ability to maneuver and work in confined spaces, including getting under desks and running wires in tight areas.
  • Availability: Must be available for off-hour emergencies and participate in a regular on-call schedule.
  • Work Pace: The work environment is fast-paced, demanding efficiency and accuracy.
  • Criticality: Maintaining system uptime is a critical aspect of this role.
