Job Summary:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operates radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic X-ray films as directed by physicians.
- Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
- Performs routine diagnostic procedures and may be required to function as a Medical Assistant as needed.
- Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking X-rays following established procedures.
- Instructs patients regarding procedures.
- Observes the patient’s vital signs during examination.
- Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
- Maintains accurate radiology records as directed and logs all procedures completed.
- Processes routine paperwork and files reports.
- Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on an individual patient basis.
- Maintains examination rooms.
- Stocks of necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
- AD HOC duties as assigned
In addition, the following duties will be performed to assist with proper patient care as needed:
- Perform initial vital signs and recheck as necessary.
- Carry out wound care for scrubs, abrasions, small cuts, and puncture wounds.
- Assist with wound and Ortho care.
- Collection and processing of lab specimens. (UA, sputum, stool, etc.)
- Assist with pelvic exams.
- Assist with visitor control and notifying patients/families of any delay in care.
- Draw Venous Labs.
- Obtain a complete set of vital signs.
- Obtain 12 lead EKGs per policy or order.
- Proficient with patient charting.
- Demonstrate proficiency with sterile instrument procedures.
- Perform daily and weekly cleaning duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or relevant EMR.
Required Education and Experience:
- One year of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred
- Current state licensure and certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Texas Medical Board.
- Current CPR certification.
- Associates Degree in Applied Science.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Patient care experience is desired but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to transfer patients as needed.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
