Quilt’s mission is to move humanity off of fossil fuel heating. 20% of US global warming emissions come from homes (that's more than cars!). The largest driver of home emissions is burning fossil fuels for heat. To complete the energy transition, over 80M US homes need to transition from combustion to efficient, electric heat pumps over the coming decades.
We believe for this to happen the world needs fantastic products that are easy and desirable to purchase. Today's heat pumps lack great design, make limited use of software, and are difficult and stressful to adopt. We are building a next generation, beautifully designed, optimized home heating and cooling system that is 10x better than what is on the market today. And we are making it easy to purchase and adopt by managing all sales, rebates, permitting and installation for our customers.
Role
Quilt is entering a new business model that requires the establishment of dependable and cost-efficient Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) trucking across the United States. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing our LTL trucking strategy. This individual will oversee carrier relationships, negotiate rates, optimize shipping routes, and ensure timely and cost-effective freight transportation. The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of experience in logistics with a strong understanding of the LTL landscape.
The role reports directly into Quilt’s Head of Supply Chain, joining a small but critical team in the delivery of our custom manufactured heat pumps and associated parts.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Develop and execute an LTL freight strategy that aligns with business metrics (regions, costs, reliability).
- Identify and onboard reliable LTL carriers, negotiating contracts and rates to optimize cost and service levels.
- Monitor shipments, track performance metrics, and ensure on-time deliveries. Relay feedback to logistics providers and hold them accountable as necessary.
- Analyze freight spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize shipping routes.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and industry regulations regarding freight transportation.
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, operations, and customer service) to ensure smooth delivery of products, resolve logistics issues and disputes, and fulfill customer needs.
- Leverage technology and transportation management systems (TMS) to improve logistics efficiency.
- Stand up reverse logistics as the business matures.
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in LTL freight management.
Qualifications for the role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, or related field preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in logistics, freight management, or supply chain operations, with direct experience in domestic logistics preferred.
- Strong knowledge of LTL trucking, carrier networks, and freight pricing structures.
- Experience negotiating rates and managing carrier relationships.
- Proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets.
- Great interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to improve operations.
- Passionate about the mission of Quilt.

The salary for this role ranges from $115,000- $130,000. We expect this person to work onsite, full time in our Redwood City Office. In addition to base salary, Quilt also offers meaningful equity and top-tier benefits.
