The Quinault Indian Nation is a federally recognized Indian tribe. The Medical Assistant will be working under the license of the applicable provider, assist health care professionals in the examination and treatment of patients by performing duties such as rooming, obtaining vital signs, preparing patient and environment for treatment, conducting basic tests, preparing patients for, and assisting with, routine and specialty examinations, procedures, treatments, and minor office procedures. Perform associated clerical tasks including chart preparation, stocking clinic supplies and answering telephones.
Our clinics are open Monday through Sunday from as early as 6:00 am to as late as 7:00 pm. Schedules are based on clinic needs. Shift differentials are offered for those staff who work on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:
- Perform clinical skills within the scope of practice of the Medical Assistant.
- Provide patient education and personal care.
- Verifies and corrects patient information by interviewing the patient and recording their medical history. Verifies records and converses with patients to allay fear of procedure.
- Takes vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information in the patients' Electronic Health Record.
- Assists in examination and treatment of patients, performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of the provider.
- Maintains and cleans examination rooms. Prepares rooms for provider’s examination of patients. Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
- Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
- Operates electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests or coordinates referrals to schedule patients for additional testing as necessary.
- Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests. Performs screening tests and reports results.
- Dresses wounds and incisions.
- Obtains authorizations for medications as needed.
- Routinely draws blood from patients and prepares specimens for screening, analysis, or other medical purposes.
- Adheres strictly to chain of custody in handling collection, samples, and information to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Completes and files all requisite paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Cross-trained to assist staff with all other duties when available.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Active Medical Assistant Certification through the Washington State Department of Health.
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS).
- Knowledge of the current medical practices in primary care, mental health and addiction medicine.
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and health-related computer software applications.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI requirements.
- Knowledge and skills of common office and administrative procedures, and equipment.
- Ability to work in a cross-culture environment and understand the social and cultural context of the patients.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to effectively establish, maintain, and communicate working relationships with patients, staff, and outside agencies.
Preferred:
- Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program.
- Current or recent Medical Assistant experience in Primary Care.
- Current National Medical Assistant Association Certification.
