What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant (QWC) position at Quinault Wellness Center?
The Quinault Indian Nation is a federally recognized Indian tribe. The Quinault Wellness Center offers our employees a wonderful benefits plan. All full-time employees are eligible for Medical, Prescription, Vision and Dental. Depending on the location and the position we may be able to offer relocation assistance up to $10,000. The Medical Assistant will support the Quinault Wellness Center in its goal to assist individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders to obtain necessary skills, counseling, medication management, and support services to improve their quality of life and level of functioning. They will conduct a variety of technical, administrative and patient care services to include but is not limited to:
- Verifies and corrects patient information by interviewing the patient and recording their medical history. Verifies records and converses with patients to allay fear of procedure.
- Take vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height, and records information in the patients' Electronic Health Record.
- Assists in examination and treatment of patients, performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of the provider.
- Maintains and cleans examination rooms. Prepares rooms for provider's examination of patients. Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
- Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
- Operates electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests or coordinates referrals to schedule patients for additional testing as necessary.
- Gives injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests. Performs screening tests and reports results. Dresses wounds and incisions.
- Routinely draws blood from patients and prepares specimens for screening, analysis, or other medical purposes.
Required
- Must be a licensed Medical Assistant in good standing with the State of Washington.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders and its effect on individuals, families and communities.
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and health related computer software applications.
- Must be available to be scheduled Monday - Saturday from 5:00 am to 3:00 pm. (Schedules vary in these days and hours)
Preferred
- Previous substance abuse treatment and/or primary care experience.
