Speech-Language Pathologist Middle & High School

Quincy Public Schools is seeking a licensed speech language pathologist to conduct evaluations, develop IEPs, and provide direct services to students with communication needs in a public-school setting.

Responsibilities Include:

Conducts thorough assessments of speech and language skills utilizing standardized evaluations and informal assessments to establish eligibility for services and inform goals and service delivery

Utilizes data to develop attainable, strengths-based SMART goals for improving functional communication skills and accessing the general education curriculum

Provides direct services utilizing research-based treatment methods to improve students’ functional communication skills and support access to the general education curriculum as outlined in the students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP)

Records data and reports progress at least as often as report cards are provided

Attends and participates in IEP meetings

Collaborates with other related service providers to conduct co-treatment sessions when deemed appropriate

Consults with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to implement communication strategies throughout the school day

Develops augmentative/alternative communication strategies as necessary

Trains classroom staff and families on augmentative/alternative communication strategies

Participates in professional development that is specific to the field and meets requirements to maintain licensure

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program

Valid Speech Language Pathology License through the Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, Division of Professional Licensure, Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Valid Speech and Hearing Disabilities (All Levels) License through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

Certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred

Strong Clinical Fellow (CF) candidates considered

Preferred Skills

Experience with low-, mid-, and high-tech augmentative/alternative communication strategies

Experience with behavior management/de-escalation strategies
