- We’re seeking a Lab Technician to join our DNA Sequencing Team, playing a critical hands-on role in our high-throughput sequencing operations. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives during non-traditional hours and wants to contribute directly to impactful genomic research and custom sequencing projects.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Primary hours: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM
- Flexibility required: While this role is currently focused on overnight coverage, the schedule may evolve over time to meet changing operational needs. Adaptability is key.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform routine sequencing workflows, including sample preparation, library construction, and loading of sequencing instruments (e.g., Sanger and Nanopore sequencing).
- Ensure high-quality data output by carefully following SOPs and troubleshooting minor issues during runs.
- Track and document sample metadata, instrument status, and process performance with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Prepare reagents, clean and calibrate equipment, and maintain laboratory cleanliness and readiness.
- Coordinate with day-shift staff to ensure seamless handoffs and consistent lab operations across shifts.
- Support ad hoc projects, process improvements, and inter-departmental collaborations as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a molecular biology or genomics lab is a plus, but not required. Training will be provided for motivated candidates with strong foundational knowledge.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Competence & Skills
- Basic understanding of DNA sequencing technologies and techniques.
- Comfortable working with pipettes, reagents, and biological samples.
- Experience with lab documentation and data entry using spreadsheets.
- Need to have a car and a driver's license to commute
