Media Director (leadership position)
We are a fully integrated marketing agency serving clients in a variety of industries including (but not limited to) retail, healthcare, banking and financial, insurance, manufacturing, energy, education, and non-profits. We are seeking a dynamic media director who will be responsible for working hands-on with both digital and traditional media planning and buying.
This is not a telecommuting opportunity.
As Media Director, you will lead, support, and inspire the media team and its activities in both digital and traditional media ensuring the delivery of effective, innovative and strategic solutions that maximize the client’s budget. As a data-powered strategist, you’ll drive overall client communication objectives and strategic direction by partnering with clients and the account services team to develop and oversee the execution of goals, directives, strategies and media budgets.
A collaborative, team-oriented manager with strong delegation and organization skills, you should be a strong leader who is excited to manage and grow team members.
Responsibilities
Execute media plans and buying, and provide leadership, coaching and professional development to the media team. This includes interviewing and hiring, mentoring and training, allocating work, auditing work, conducting performance reviews and recommending pay increases.
Set a high bar for creativity, strategic rigor and account management that inspires the team.
Produce work that delivers on client goals and gains industry recognition for its creativity and results.
Oversee internal / external team communications.
Develop and maintain effective client relationships.
Establish a true partnership in clients’ businesses by gaining and maintaining a deep understanding of business needs and issues faced.
Maintain a vocal, visible role in all major internal and client meetings.
Formulate and recommend long-term strategic plans that generate measurable results, with a focus on new and emerging media opportunities to help drive the client’s and agency’s business.
Ascertain client needs and key media challenges and recommend effective solutions. Oversee the development of media recommendations and POVs.
Constantly seek and create creative opportunities in both media choice and usage to increase visibility / impact; seek to merchandise the media team’s work to clients.
Provide media staff with higher-level client perspectives, insights, goals and strategies.
Maintain thorough, up-to-date knowledge of clients’ businesses (market share, business priorities, key competitor strategies, etc.); monitor progress and accuracy of all communication plans, assignments and projects.
Correlate and analyze multiple data points from agency sources including syndicated research and proprietary agency research, as well as client data, shares, brand health tracking, etc., and draw conclusions from data.
Use expertise, confidence and people skills to chart a path to achieving client objectives, agency business needs and the creative ambition of our brand.
Sell this vision to internal and external stakeholders.
Actively participate in new business pitches as determined by the CEO.
Cultivate excellent relations within the media sales community, ensuring the agency is always represented in a positive light.
Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of media systems / processes, providing recommendations for streamlining processes as requested.
Stay abreast of key developments / trends / issues in media (e.g., population, demographic, lifestyle, media usage changes).
Qualifications
Hiring Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in communications business administration, marketing / advertising, or related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Skilled in Nielsen Media Research ratings.
Expert in utilizing media buying software; Strata and Advantage preferred.
Adept in all digital platforms including Google, Meta, etc.
Experience with programmatic and DSP providers.
