What are the responsibilities and job description for the English Learner/Dual Language Consulting Teacher position at Quinton Heights Student Support Ctr. ELL/Migrant Dept.?
Reports To: General Director of Cultural Innovation
Position Purpose: Provide professional development for certified and classified staff to support and sustain effective teaching and learning, resulting in improved student learning for English Learner (Elementary) and dual language (Secondary) students.
Qualifications:
- Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) licensure
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Extensive knowledge of the Gomez & Gomez DL Model
- Extensive knowledge of assessment, instruction, classroom management, instructional resources, and technology
- Knowledge of state ELL standards and TPS course/grade level standards
- Strong organizational, team building, communication, and consultation skills
- Three years of successful teaching experience with language learners or as an EL teacher
- The successful candidate must have transportation and be able to travel to schools to meet with teachers and administrators. The candidate must have good communication skills as well as strong knowledge of EL/DL issues and the effect of such on children and youth.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Plan/Provide professional development opportunities districtwide
- Consult with classroom teachers and building principals
- Observe classrooms and provide consistent feedback
- Assist with program planning
- Problem solve collaboratively
- Analyze students’ work
- Model, co-plan, or co-teach lessons
- Assist with district EL testing
- Assist in the selection and approval of professional materials, supplies, and equipment
Terms of Employment:
9 month teacher contract plus addendum for up to 20 additional duty days plus addendum for consulting teacher; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of Certified Personnel.

The employee is required to interact with staff and to meet demands from several people.
