Role Overview:
As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities. You will work closely with students, parents, and fellow educators to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters academic growth and personal development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing specialized instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
- Collaborating with general education teachers and support staff to ensure that students with disabilities are fully included in the general education curriculum.
- Conducting assessments and progress monitoring to track student growth and inform instructional planning.
- Providing ongoing communication and support to parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and educational goals.
- Participating in the IEP team process, including attending meetings, writing IEPs, and coordinating services for students with disabilities.
- Creating a positive and supportive classroom culture that promotes a sense of belonging and self-confidence among students with disabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Valid Georgia teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a school setting.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
- Commitment to fostering a culture of inclusion, equity, and respect for all students.
