Overview
The Information Security Analyst will play a key role in protecting the organization by monitoring, investigating, and responding to security incidents. This position is ideal for a cybersecurity professional with 2-5 years of experience who is looking to expand their hands-on expertise. The analyst will work closely with a Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider, assess and escalate security incidents, support vulnerability management, and ensure security best practices across Active Directory, Azure, and AWS environments.
This role requires the ability to work independently, take initiative in resolving security issues, and make informed decisions. However, it is equally important to recognize when to seek guidance and escalate issues appropriately. The analyst must also possess strong critical thinking skills to evaluate information provided by other teams, question assumptions, and ensure that security concerns are thoroughly addressed.

Overview
The Information Security Analyst will play a key role in protecting the organization by monitoring, investigating, and responding to security incidents. Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to security alerts from SIEM, EDR, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and other security tools.
- Act as a point of contact for our MDR provider, reviewing escalated security alerts, assessing their severity, and determining next steps.
- Assess security tickets and incidents, distinguishing between false positives and legitimate threats, and determine when to escalate or remediate independently.
- Conduct vulnerability management activities, including scanning, analyzing risks, and coordinating remediation efforts with IT teams.
- Perform security investigations, document findings, and implement corrective actions to strengthen security posture.
- Assist in incident response efforts, including containment, eradication, and recovery phases.
- Enforce secure system configurations, patching, and access control policies in Active Directory, Azure, and AWS environments.
- Support identity and access management (IAM) functions, including role-based access control (RBAC), and privilege monitoring.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure deployments and configurations for on-premises and cloud-based services.
- Analyze security-related information from other teams (e.g., IT, DevOps, cloud, or compliance teams), critically assess its accuracy, and question assumptions when necessary to ensure security best practices are upheld.
- Maintain a proactive mindset, working independently to address security concerns while knowing when to seek guidance from senior team members or escalate issues.
- Assist in security awareness training programs and contribute to security documentation and reporting.
- Stay updated on emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends to proactively address risks.
- Support compliance and audit initiatives by gathering evidence and ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks.

- 2-5 years of hands-on experience in information security, IT security operations, or a related field.
- Proven experience analyzing and responding to security alerts from SIEM, EDR, and MDR solutions.
- Familiarity with MDR provider operations and the ability to effectively assess and escalate incidents.
- Experience with vulnerability management, including scanning, risk analysis, and remediation coordination.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory security, including Group Policy, authentication mechanisms, and privilege management.
- Experience securing cloud environments, particularly Azure and AWS, including IAM, security logging, and access controls.
- Strong ability to work independently, take initiative, and make informed security decisions while recognizing when to escalate issues.
- Effective critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate information from other teams and ask the right questions to ensure security best practices are followed.
- Understanding of security frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and CIS controls.
- Strong foundation in network security principles, Windows/Linux security, and cloud security best practices.
- Ability to conduct basic forensic analysis and participate in incident response processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to different audiences.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security , GSEC, SSCP, or equivalent are preferred but not required.
- Background Check: The successful candidate will need to successfully complete the following clearances: Criminal History Check, Education Verification, Employment Verification, Driver’s License Verification and passport/ID validation.
