Our Staff Accountant – Payroll plays a vital role within our organization. Once you complete our training, your responsibilities will include assisting in the preparation of entries regarding payroll, assisting with payroll compliance, and partnering with HRIS to ensure proper and timely external filings. In addition, the successful candidate will assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements and reports, as well as assist with monthly accounting entries, maintain the general ledger, assist the financial reporting team and other accounting duties. What The Staff Accountant – Payroll Does Each Day
- Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions
- Prepare and issues paychecks
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly closing entries and generate supporting documentation for business transactions
- Support the preparation and filing state and federal employment and withholding tax forms
- Maintain integrity and accuracy of general ledger entries by ensuring the proper and timely recognition of transactions
- Perform account reconciliation and analysis for various balance sheet accounts
- Assist the financial reporting team in the preparation of monthly financial statements, monthly management reports, and other financial reports
- Provide support and required information to tax department and external auditors
- Assist HR as necessary to compile payroll data such as hours worked, sales or piecework, taxes, insurance, and union dues to be withheld, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records
- Assist HR and HRIS as necessary to prepare computer input forms, enter data into computer files, or compute wages and deductions and posts to payroll records
- Assist HR as necessary to review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- 5 to 7 years payroll administration experience
- Experience calculating and tracking commissions
- Experience filing payroll tax returns required
- Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality and discretion
- Ability to work a standard work week and occasional hours outside a standard work week within reason
- Proficient Excel skills
- 18 years of age
- Able to successfully complete a drug and background check
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; QuVa is not able to sponsor applicants for work visas
- Experience working in a manufacturing setting/industry
- Experience processing payroll for 100 employees
