R-2 Contractors is currently seeking a motivated Heavy Equipment Shop and Truck Mechanic to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our continued success with a company that values integrity and professionalism.
What you will do:
- Perform a variety of skilled duties which may involve inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty trucks and equipment
- Complete tasks given by Shop Manager in a timely fashion and ask for help as needed
- Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks (up to 1 1/2”)
- Responsible for cleaning and organizing the shop
- Must be able to operate heavy equipment
- Clean and organize work/shop/yard area as needed to maintain a safe working environment
- Complete all required documentation: timesheets, checklists, repair orders, etc…
- Assist with getting company vehicles to and from locations as needed
- Complete DOT inspections
- Use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) – grinding, cutting, sanding, welding, using compressed air etc
- Loading and unloading trucks with use of forklift
- Physical requirements: Lifting up to 100 pounds as needed, climbing, twisting, bending, standing for long periods of time
- Minimum 3 years heavy equipment/heavy truck experience
- Experience in safely using hand and power tools, equipment and diagnostic devices
- Forklift Certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record - preferred, or the ability to work with the company to obtain one
- DOT medical card required and ability to maintain
- Mechanical Experience Required
