About the Role
As the Project Manager for R.A Jones you will be responsible to drive successful management of assigned projects from order launch to shipment.
You will manage day-to-day client interaction, setting and managing client expectations, communicating effectively with clients to identify their needs and evaluate alternative business solutions. Along with continually seeking opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
In this role you are also responsible for:
- Manage project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements with an emphasis on bringing immediate closure to open items. Manage early learning, testing, and debugging.
- Manage operational aspects of scope, schedule and budget. Reviews deliverables prepared by the team before passing them to client.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent deadlines with attention to detail and proper amount of urgency.
- Minimize exposure and risk on the project; enforces project standards.
- Determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables for the project.
- Accurately track and report profitability, revenue, margins, hours, expenses, etc. Support others to assure project legal documents are completed and signed.
- Facilitate project meetings; keeps project team well informed of changes; resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely manner.
- Work with customers to ensure the project scope alignment. Assist with equipment integration discussions and ensure equipment works within plant layout and planned procedures. Work with internal teams to schedule project installation, start-ups, and training.
- Demonstrate general understanding of machine capabilities; awareness of new technology capabilities; demonstrate understanding of machine applications.
What you need to be successful
- Strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral communications skills; ability to interact with all levels of the organization including employees, management, and external customers.
- Technical knowledge of packaging equipment/capital equipment preferred
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
- Able to work in an office and manufacturing environment at R.A Jones and customer facilities
- BS degree or equivalent experience required, project management certificate a preferred.
- General business (finance, operations, engineering) preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to various locations as needed including customer plants. (10- 25% travel required, typically with advanced notice)
- Understanding of lean concepts and principles (SQDC, DMAIC, etc.)
- SAP knowledge a plus
- 5-8 years of managing complex projects
