What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator position at R C Construction Co., Inc.?
- Operate heavy equipment safely, productively and efficiently.
- The following machines, tools, and equipment are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. Actual machines, tools, and equipment used will vary.
- Follow site grading and operations plans, read grade stakes and operate in a medium to fine grade environment
- Perform a daily heavy equipment walk-around inspection and preventative maintenance responsibilities
- Clean, maintain, and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies, and procedures
- Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored
- Comply with the Operations & Maintenance Guide for our core and secondary equipment
- Possess a working knowledge of construction/equipment safety
- Five (5) years or more of industry related experience is required for this position, with an emphasis on airfields, roads, highways, and bridges
- Demonstrable previous experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator
- Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees
- Must understand the different signals used to signal operators of construction machinery
- Valid Driver’s license
- Reliable method of going to and from work
- Must be able to obtain and maintain clearance for military base access
- Must abide by all policies within the employee manual
