Summary/Objective: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Project Manager to oversee architectural and historical projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will manage project teams, ensure compliance with preservation standards, and deliver quality results on time and within budget. Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills are essential. A well-versed candidate in architectural history and industry standards is desired. Additionally, excellent organizational and leadership skills are essential for effectively managing projects and team members.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the planning, scheduling, and execution of architectural and historical projects.
  • Coordinate with teams to ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Lead project teams and maintain effective communication.
  • Ensure alignment with client expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and review project documentation.
  • Prepare project reports and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Support business development and proposal efforts as needed.

Education, Experience, & Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in architecture, architectural history, historic preservation, or a related field.
  • Secretary of the Interior qualified in Architectural History (36 CFR 71) and possess 5-10 years of experience.
  • Applied knowledge of historic preservation laws, regulations, standards, and programs on the local, state, and national levels.
  • Experience in working collaboratively as a senior team member in the execution of investigations for the identification, evaluation, and treatment of historic properties.
  • Knowledge of current scholarship in the fields of architecture, architectural history, history, and preservation technology
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret archival and site data in the analysis of buildings, structures, and landscapes.
  • Prior experience with electronic data collection tools and GIS applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of technical reports and associated products.
  • Computer literacy – complete competency in MS Excel, and industry specific software for managing related project commitments. GIS skills desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and work flows simultaneously, both independently and as a team.

  • Capacity to perform repetitive tasks; Read, analyze, and interpret data; maintain visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time.

Work Environment:

  • Regular work on-site is required. Workdays and hours coincide with project job site and/or office hours.
  • This job operates mostly in the office, with occasional visits to field sites for surveying and monitoring.
  • A hybrid work option is allowed after successful completed of a six-month probationary period.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Role requires supervision of architectural historian and historian staff and projects, as required.
