Expert Equipment Operator
Responsibilities:
✅ Operate basic equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, and backhoes under supervision.
✅ Assist in trenching, grading, and excavation for underground utilities.
✅ Perform pre-operation inspections on equipment.
✅ Maintain daily reports of job progress and time entry, JSAs, excavation checklist, crew tasks, and site conditions.
✅ Follow grade stakes and instructions from supervisors and experienced operators.
✅ Work with laborers to ensure proper backfilling and compaction.
✅ Adhere to OSHA trenching, excavation, and safety regulations.
✅ Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including full-size excavators, bulldozers, and loaders.
✅ Excavate trenches and install underground utilities with precision.
✅ Read and interpret job site plans, utility markings, and grade stakes.
✅ Maintain and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues with equipment.
✅ Work closely with crews to ensure accurate pipe placement and grading.
✅ Adjust excavation techniques based on soil conditions and underground utility locations.
✅ Lead excavation crews and train intro and intermediate operators in best practices.
✅ Operate complex machinery, including GPS-equipped excavators, motor graders, and specialized trenching equipment.
✅ Plan and execute precise excavation and grading according to project specifications.
✅ Handle complex digs near existing underground utilities with minimal risk.
✅ Coordinate with project managers and inspectors to ensure efficiency and compliance.
✅ Troubleshoot and solve major job site issues related to excavation and underground utilities.
✅ Ensure adherence to safety protocols.
✅ Communicate regularly with field supervisors, project managers, and clients via cell phone for scheduling, troubleshooting, and progress updates.
Skills Required:
- Expert knowledge of excavation, grading, and underground utility installation.
- Ability to train and lead teams efficiently.
- Advanced proficiency in GPS-guided excavation and site layout.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and risk management skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $27.00 per hour
