Job Summary
R.D. Offutt Farms is seeking an experienced and driven accountant to join our financial accounting team as the Accounting Supervisor. The Accounting Supervisor will report to the R.D. Offutt Farms Controller in Fargo, ND, and be responsible for leading the preparation of financial information for our farm entities and supervising accounting team members. This role will collaborate with individuals across the organization to provide timely and accurate financial reporting and report results to management.
The Accounting Supervisor will support R.D. Offutt Farms Co. and related entities that consist of farming operations across the upper Midwest in North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. R.D. Offutt Farms has a long history in the agricultural production industry and would like to add an Accounting Supervisor to our team.
Job Duties:
- Lead financial reporting process for certain R.D. Offutt Farms entities to provide accurate financial statements for management and external parties.
- Supervise accounting team members to ensure that the department accomplishes accounting objectives by training, managing, and mentoring accounting staff.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver process improvements and greater financial analytics for company management; continue to identify and deliver continuous improvements.
- Analyze monthly financial statements and present financial results to Controller and Company management.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements for RD Offutt Farms Co.
- Prepare and/or assist with the generation of business plans for R.D. Offutt Farms entities to forecast projections for fiscal and crop years.
- Provide financial institutions with required compliance certificates as applicable.
- Prepare year-end financial information used for annual financial meetings.
- Perform and review account reconciliations.
- Responsible for recording and reviewing recurring and non-recurring journal entries.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of the company’s compliance and regulatory audits.
- Administer the hiring, development/training, management, evaluation, and effective assignment of people resources.
- Identify and report accounting related issues to appropriate management.
- Be a self-starter; ability to work independently as well as with other personnel and management.
- Represent self and company in a professional and positive manner.
- Attend required company meetings and training and participate in constructive discussion.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
- Conduct self in the presence of customers and community to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Company.
- Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
- Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.

- Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance
- 5 years of progressive work experience in accounting/finance
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting
- Leadership experience in supervising others
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- 10% travel required
- Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
