Job Summary
RD Offutt Farms is seeking a financial accountant to add to its financial accounting team. The Financial Accountant will work with the RD Offutt Farms accounting team in Fargo, ND. This role will collaborate with individuals within accounting and operations to assist in timely and accurate financial reporting and report results to management.
The R.D. Offutt Farms operates potato farms across the upper Midwest in North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin. R.D. Offutt Farms has a long history in the agricultural production industry and is adding a Financial Accountant to its team.
Job Duties Include:
- Assist with the financial reporting process for the Midwest Farms consolidated financial statements to provide accurate financial statements for management and external parties.
- Prepare financial statements for our partner farm entities and collaborate with partners about their financial results.
- Prepare crop year-end financial information used for annual financial meetings.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations/reviews.
- Assist in the monthly and yearly closing processes.
- Import and reconcile inventory data for use in the financial reporting process.
- Analyze monthly financial statements and present financial results to supervisor and various levels within the company.
- Responsible for recording recurring journal entries.
- Prepare reconciliations for expense reimbursements to maintain accurate records for company credit cards.
- Assists in the preparation and execution of the companies’ compliance and regulatory audits.
- Identifies and reports accounting related issues to appropriate management.
- Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork.
- Cultivates professional relationships with agronomy, operations, accounting, and finance team members.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance
- 2 years of progressive work experience in accounting/finance
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting
- Team Player
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- 10% travel required
- Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
