Material Handler Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Material Handler to manage the receipt and shipment of laboratory supplies and business materials at our biotechnology company.
About the Role
This is a 6-month contract position that requires working directly with the Purchasing, Lab, and Finance departments to store, track, and reconcile all materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchase Order Processing: Accurately process Purchase Order receipts in Netsuite ERP system.
- Sample Receiving Support: Assist with Sample Receiving process(es).
- Kan-Ban Distribution: Distribute stock to Point of Use locations throughout labs using Kan-Ban system.
- Inventory Management: Tag and label incoming stock items, perform put-away, and manage item disposition per QC status in stockroom.
- Shipping and Logistics: Maintain incoming/outgoing shipment log, interact with purchasing department to reconcile shipping discrepancies, and perform cycle count of stock materials.
- Supply Chain Management: Maintain supply item records and manage inventory within Netsuite, prepare and process outbound shipments, domestic & international, and interact with freight and logistics carriers to schedule pick-up and deliveries.
Requirements
- Education and Experience: Associate's degree and 2-5 years of Material Handler experience within Biotechnology or Pharmaceuticals industry.
- Cold-Chain Handling: Must have experience working with temperature-sensitive (refrigerated, frozen) materials and demonstrate understanding of the importance of maintaining the chain of custody for cold-chain items.
- International Shipping: Experience with domestic and international shipping and associated packaging and documentation requirements.
- ERP System Knowledge: Candidates should have experience working with integrated ERP & LIMS systems with NetSuite knowledge being a definite plus.
Work Environment
On-site resource, Moderate lifting, Occasional work with items that are frozen and refrigerated, Occasional work with Blood Samples.
