(R&D) has successfully worked with California Regional Centers and School Districts to deliver a comprehensive brokerage model that consists of Scheduling, Billing and Contract Administration, Customer Service Center, and Quality Assurance for Field Operations. Although not a direct transportation service provider, R&D coordinates with transportation contractors to ensure that they operate safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for people with developmental and physical disabilities.
Position Summary
The GIS Scheduler provides technical support in the development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the R&D’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) programs; applies knowledge of GIS to a variety of projects which include creation, maintenance, and quality control of geographic datasets; performs related work as required.
This position assists the Planning Supervisor, to coordinate with IT Professional or Systems Manager to integrate GIS with information systems across departments to allow R&D to carry out its contractual service requirements. Additionally, the position will be expected to collaborate with department managers regarding other priority projects that will require the GIS Scheduler Intern to research, recommend, and support the implementation of new techniques and applications to improve the efficiency, coordination, data, activities, or other project deliverables.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain and provide support for hardware and software systems as well as assist in development and implementation of GIS applications and services.
- Perform a variety of routine technical duties using standard GIS tools/processes; Perform basic GIS map functions to initiate, edit, and update student (rider) records, including address and other important transportation information.
- Coordinate the development of data and file management as it pertains to GIS, and related data files working across various organizational levels,
- Assist in short/longterm planning, route design, and implementation of program direction and objectives,
- Plan, develop, and implement GISrelated project objectives to align with company customer service expectations.
- Coordinate transportation and support R&D Scheduling Department as needed.
- Assist management team with tech support functions that include research of various information systems to explore system capabilities, constraints, opportunities, or enduser functionality.
- Test and evaluate the effectiveness of existing systems and services. Recommend and implement modifications as approved by management team, to ensure that system goals and objectives are achieved.
- Research, assess and identify client or project needs and recommend system modifications or creation of new programs and services. May be assigned to assist as part of the design team for proprietary software development.
- Correspond regularly with staff, Regional Center personnel, and transportation contractors for information exchange regarding scheduling services or content.
- Perform quality control reviews or checks with minimal supervision to ensure data integrity, process adherence, program configurations, and route design.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A) from fouryear college or university; or minimum five years’ progressively responsible experience in passenger operations, transportation planning, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook) GIS experience a plus.
- Verifiable work experience in the use of GIS Routing and Planning Software and Server product suite, GPS and Data Collection tools, and mapping products as applied to specialized passenger transportation services.
- Basic programming skills for html, CSS, JavaScript, Java, Python desired.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and planning skills.
- Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong customer service skills and experience in a diverse, fast paced, customer serviceoriented environment.
