General Description:
The engineering intern is responsible for supporting selected projects and assignments to facilitate current and/or the development of new manufacturing projects. The intern will become knowledgeable of manufacturing methods and processes associated with molding rubbers and composites, and the systems used for assembly into finished parts. Depending on the task, REDAR will provide the intern with opportunities to develop and potentially implement engineering solutions. This position may be hands-on and will require on the job training.
Essential Duties:
- Support Special Projects Engineers and/or Manufacturing Technicians and Operators
- Partner with a mentor to complete a selected project
- Learn fundamentals of REDAR products and processes
- Gain knowledge of aerospace and DOD products and processes
- Participate in customer communications (as applicable)
- Participate in weekly Engineering Department meetings
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Current Sophomore, Junior or Senior at an accredited college or university seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following areas:
- Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering
- Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Material Science Engineering
- Rubber Technology Engineering
- Polymer Science & Engineering
- Systems or Industrial Engineering
Specific tasks, Knowledge, and Skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Capable of quick response times
- Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrate strong work ethics and ability to drive tasks to completion

The R.E. Darling Co. Inc., internship program is a year-round program. Full time internship during the summer (up to 40 hours) and when school starts again, moved to a minimum of 20 hours a week.
