CLAIMS SUPPORT SPECIALIST

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages, investigates, and facilitates insurance claims, including minor and mid-level third party bodily injury and property damage claims
• Monitors litigated and non-litigated claims with oversight of the Claims Manager
• Sets reserves within authority. Recommends reserves over authority and provides action plan to Claims Manager
• Receives accident calls
• Coordinates investigations with independent adjustors, attorneys, and experts
• Determines when post-accident and drug alcohol testing are needed and facilitate process with Safety Department
• Notifies company departments of accidents/injuries as required
• Analyzes claims for subrogation potential and pursues subrogation when appropriate
• Provide updates to Director of Claims risk management related issues.
• Provides input as to needed changes and enhancements.
• Stays abreast of existing and new legislation
• Has a solid understanding of tort and laws as it relates to assigned claims
• Stays abreast of claims and transportation industry changes
• Any other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Business or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Previous claims management experience in a trucking/transportation environment preferred.
• Previous experience in claims negotiation preferred.
• Previous experience with McLeod Transportation and IEG software a plus.
• Must be willing to work on-call rotation 24/7 in conjunction with normal business work hours.
• Must be willing to attend training and professional development courses.
• Must have high confidentiality in all matters.
