ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fully comprehend vehicle operation and safe driving procedures.
- Operate trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) exceeding 26,000 lbs.
- Transport loads exceeding 10,000 lbs. in weight.
- Maintain comfort and precision while maneuvering and parking tractor-trailers.
- Possess an unblemished driving record with no moving violations.
- Make safety a top priority at all times.
- Remain alert, focused, and detail-oriented.
- Meet physical and mental demands of long hours and regular travel.
- Ensure cargo is properly secured within the truck to prevent damage or breakage.
- Transport goods and commodities from origin to destination safely, efficiently, and on time.
- Plan delivery routes and verify delivery instructions.
- Communicate with dispatch as needed.
- Obtain signatures to confirm delivery completion with customers.
- Verify shipment contents match the manifest document.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of your vehicle.
- Monitor weather conditions and road reports prior to departure.
- Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance (refueling, oil changes, tire pressure checks, repairs, etc.).
- Notify management of any significant maintenance or delivery issues.
- Adhere to delivery schedules and take regular breaks.
- Keep detailed records of driving and delivery activities.
- Track and report working hours accurately.
- Comply with company rules and regulations.
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to road conditions.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of and compliance with FMCSA, FMSA, DOT, and other regulatory agency guidelines.
- Exhibit discipline, dependability, resourcefulness, composure, and good stress management skills.
- Maintain accurate fuel/toll receipts and other paperwork.
- Be proficient in using electronic equipment and software (GPS, E-logs, etc.).
- Undergo background checks, drug testing, and provide employment references.
- Develop adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read and write.
- Proficiency in English, as required by the FMCSA.
- Twelve months of commercial driving experience within the last ten years.
- Valid Class A driver's license required.
