QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified in K-3 or K-8 Elementary Education, Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As per Worthington School Committee policy
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the school principal, the Kindergarten teacher will
Under the direction of the school principal or designee:
1.Teach pupils utilizing adopted course of study and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
2.Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
3.Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
4.Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
5.Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
6.Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
7.Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils' progress and interpret the school program.
8.Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
9.Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
10.Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
11.Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
12.Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
13.Administer group-standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
14.Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
15.Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
16.Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the building principal or the Superintendent of Schools.

- Excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to the success of ALL students, and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students
SALARY: The salary will be in accordance with the provisions of the Worthington School District salary schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the school principal in accordance with provisions of the Worthington School Committee’s policy on evaluation.
