At R.I.A. Federal Credit Union, the primary focus of the Trainer is to improve the financial well-being of our members. This is accomplished through:

As a community credit union, R.I.A.’s Trainer will invest the time to get to know members and take care of their needs while finding opportunities to improve their financial well-being. The Trainer will build relationships with internal stakeholders to understand and help deliver business needs and objectives.

Essential Functions

- Conducts Orientation, Development and Training: sessions for new entry level staff, covering specific areas such as on-the-job training, use of computers and software, system navigation, sales & service techniques, product knowledge, interpersonal skills, and professionalism. Develop and teach credit union product promotion and cross-selling techniques. Report on progress of employees under guidance during training periods. Serve as a primary resource for training new member facing staff in addition to serving as a trainer to all areas that utilize the same systems and procedures as frontline employees.
- Content Creation: Trainer will work with the Manager of Training & Procedural Development to create content for training sessions. This includes, but is not limited to, PowerPoint presentations, handouts and resources used in training sessions, continuing education materials for new and existing staff, etc. This also includes utilizing the Learning Management System to create and distribute custom e-learnings and webinars.
- Leadership & Employee Development: Trainer will assist Manager of Training & Procedural Development in creation of Leadership & Employee Development programs. This will include both content creation and delivery of monthly and/or quarterly training sessions. The primary focus of these programs will be to equip staff with additional skills to help them grow in their career. The Trainer will, when necessary, develop individual growth plans for employees and/or managers who are ready to grow in their careers. The Trainer will not only train and coach staff but also lead by example.
- Learn and Educate: Trainer must maintain high levels of product/services knowledge so in turn they can educate new staff, members and prospective members on R.I.A.’s products and services. Maintain a working knowledge of Member Service Representatives to assist members as needed. Understand the duties and responsibilities of an Assistant Branch Manager and Branch Manager.
- Interact: Trainer interacts with new employees and members specific to deposit and loan accounts. Effectively facilitate training courses for new and existing employees. Provide guidance, training, and support to office personnel. Since these interactions are in-person, creating a pleasant experience for new employees and R.I.A. members is vital.
- Perform: Trainer will perform banking transactions including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, transfers, opening and closing accounts, IRAs, loans, changing account information, share certificates, direct deposit, bonds, stop payments, and various other financial transactions. Prepare paperwork for, process and disburse loans. Counsel and interview members to make recommendations to them as to what services or products best fit their needs. Trainer will not primarily be working with members, but needs a strong knowledge of all member facing transactions in order to effectively train new and existing employees.
- New Training Offerings: Trainer will be responsible for creating and delivering new training offerings to be made available to the entire organization. These new offerings include, but are not limited to: Contact Center Training, Continuing Education courses, Microsoft Office training, soft skills training, sales training, etc. Trainer will need to possess, or be willing to acquire, the necessary skills to be able to effectively train employees on any of the above. This could also include working with back-office departments to provide necessary training for non-frontline employees, when applicable.
- Administrative: Trainer will assist Manager of Training & Procedural Development as a Learning Management System administrator. This includes, but is not limited to, employee maintenance, scheduling classes, pulling reports, creating and delivering e-learnings, etc.
- Uncover and Refer: As a not-for-profit financial institution, we have a responsibility to uncover opportunities to improve the financial well-being of those with whom we interact. The most important characteristic of a successful frontline employee is the ability to find these opportunities and convert them into success for our members. The Trainer will provide training and support to the frontline staff. When opportunities arise to help a member with an additional product or service, following the training provided, the frontline employee will be equipped with the knowledge to handle the member’s request when possible. In situations when a request should be referred, the frontline employee will know how to refer the request to the respective teams to act.
- Compliance: A strong understanding and adherence to Policy and Procedure is a requirement for success. Maintain knowledge of all laws and regulations applicable to the duties of the Trainer to aid members and coworkers.
- Security: Maintain and enforce maximum security over cash, building and other valuables on hand according to safety and security policies and procedures. Maintain confidentially. Maintain the security of your area and keep it organized and neat in appearance.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to spend considerable time sitting at a desk, complete work using a computer, regularly answer phone calls, and interact with employees at all levels of the organization. The employee will occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. While normal hours of work and days for R.I.A. Federal Credit Union are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours for this position reflect branch attendance, and may vary based on job related requirements.

Required Education and Experience
Two years secondary education in related field or equivalent work experience
Previous training and/or facilitation experience preferred
Experience in customer service & lending
