R. J. Corman Railroad Company is seeking a Welder based in Lexington, KY. The position of Welder performs welding/fabrication work on railroad track components and thermite welding to maintain FRA track safety standards
Responsibilities:
- Regularly work with track maintenance team to complete daily tasks
- Work safely in a team environment
- Assists job site repairs as needed
- Repair of all railroad track components
- Complete daily logs and welding reports as required by the FRA
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Operate and maintain a company commercial motor vehicle
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic welding/fabrication skills
Physical Requirements:
- Able to perform physical strenuous work
- Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs
- Requires occasional use of 30 lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50 lbs of force
- Requires occasional use of 10 lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75 lbs of force
- Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner
- Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary
Environmental Conditions: Performs duties at all locations and in an outside environment. Frequent exposure to weather elements. Appropriate PPE required.
Major or Unusual Problems: Extensive travel required
Job Dimensions: Performs duties under direct supervision with limited discretion.
