R.J. Corman is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to join our team in Corinth, MS.
Accountability: Performs mechanical repairs including cutting, welding, and requires overall mechanical aptitude. Oversee efficient operation through planning and control of daily operations, mechanical team scheduling/supervising and coordinating with onsite teams.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and supervises the daily operations of Mechanical Team Members in order to meet customer needs.
- Oversee efficient operation through planning and control of daily operations, crew scheduling, and supervising.
- Follow and monitor work practices, safety related issues to improve quality and performance
- Work with customers, both internally and externally to develop good relations
- Manage labor, tools and materials
Job Requirements:
- Welding, cutting, and mechanical type repairs
- Understanding of documenting work performed and recording material usage
- Ensure that paperwork for railcar repairs is complete and correct
- Ensure that repair jobs are completed in a timely manner
- Ensure that vehicles and shops kept clean & safe
- Ensure that the employees are working in a safe manner
- Assist with inspection and repairs as needed
- Must undergo QMI training
- Must be proficient in car repair, data entry, and material ordering.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to perform physical strenuous work
- Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs
- Requires occasional use of 30lb claw bar, requiring application of 50lbs of force
- Requires occasional use of 10lb sledge hammer, requiring application of 75lbs of force
- Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner
- Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary
Work Environment: The requirements of this position involve periods of physical activity under various field and weather conditions. Applicant must be able to lift, carry, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull with confined spaces.
