What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Supervisor position at R+L Global Logistics?
Billing Supervisor will be responsible for managing a team of billing and support staff to ensure that successful operational procedures are being adhered to as well as coordinate the work among the team members to ensure accuracy, timeliness as well as cross training within the department.
Billing Supervisor responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinates scheduling, backup coverage and allocating team members to specific tasks based on the department's needs
- Maintains levels of productivity through self-direction, goal setting, feedback and accountability.
- Analyzes and evaluates issues to identify root cause with emphasis placed on streamlining and automation
- Monitors and mentors to encourage further development of each team member's technical abilities
- Creates, improves, and documents processes
- Develops and reports metric information to management
- Understanding and working with software that supports the Domestic (Mcleod), International (Cargowise) and Warehouse billing (Deposco) as well as any other billing software
- Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of billing with accountability to DSO to allow collections to take place timely and accurately
- Works closely with both the AR/Collections team and the Billing Analysts to resolve any billing discrepancies or other AR issues
- Interfaces with multiple departments such as the Sales, Warehousing, Accounts Receivable, Credit, Collections, and Accounts Payable teams
- Fosters a strong and positive communication between external and internal customers
Qu al ifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Associates degree in Accounting or Finance or the equivalent preferred
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- 2 years leadership/supervisory experience
- 2 years’ relevant work experience
- Must be organized, have keen attention to detail, and be accurate
- Ability to train and mentor staff for career development
- Knowledge of general accounting practices including billing requirements, account receivable, accounts payable and cash management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary internal and external customer service
- Previous experience in transportation or logistics preferred
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excelthis is
