What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customs Entry Writer position at R+L Global?
Customs Entry Writer responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Tracks inbound freight and prioritizes documents to ensure timely entry filing
- Prepares and submits timely and compliant customs entries using CargoWise One
- Makes corrections and updates to entries as necessary
- Prepares and executes billings for entry related services
- Determines tariffs and duty payments, tracks shipments and uses parts tables and the HTS to classify shipments
- Ensures all government required forms and information are compliant and provided timely
- Resolves both internal and external customer issues timely, accurately and professionally
- Works closely with other departments, including sales, to develop new sales leads
- Works with transportation agents, Customs Border Patrol (CBP) and others to resolve problems pertaining to custom entries
- Stays up-to-date on all customs procedure changes
- Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school Diploma or GED
- Associates Degree with relevant import/export experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- 2 years’ experience processing import entry transactions
- Ability to handle processing complex customs entries within strict time constraints
- Strong verbal and written communicate and comprehension skills
- Strong organizational and detail skills with ability to manage deadlines, prioritize workload and adapt to changes to meet business needs and customer expectations
- Ability to problem-solve and manage complex transactional and emotional customer situations promptly and professionally while achieving commitments for service and assistance
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; bi-lingual Spanish preferred
- Previous Cargowise One software experience a plus
