What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Fulfillment & Distribution position at R+L Global?
The Director of Fulfillment & Distribution will strategically lead our Warehouse and Fulfillment Services offering by monitoring and building financial performance, improving and exceeding metrics and cultivating a network of business partners within the transportation and logistics industry.
Director of Fulfillment & Distribution responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop strategy and market the company’s warehouse service offering to generate new business relationships, increase revenue growth, and present solutions to meet customer’s needs
- Direct nationwide warehouse activities including management, proper utilization of space, material flow, equipment and manpower
- Create and drive an organizational business development plan strategy that successfully allows the organization to meet its monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals and initiatives
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of warehouse operations and implement improvements as needed
- Create and maintain efficient, sustainable processes and procedures for all warehousing activities
- Develop relationships with vendors and successfully negotiate and manage vendor and labor contracts
- Utilize a Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure receiving and shipping procedure are followed to maintain inventory accuracy
- Develop and implement strategies for efficient use of materials, equipment and employee resources
- Ensure company warehouse facilities have required resources to meet company objectives
- Develop and implements processes and procedures to ensure a clean and safe work environment
- Proactively address escalated concerns, conflicts, and interactions with team members
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or other related field of study preferred
- 10 years of progressive experience in warehouse or supply chain management with a focus in sales and operations, ideally within a Transportation or 3PL setting
- 10 years of experience in a management role or above leading high performance teams
- Previous experience with both inbound/outbound international shipments preferred
- Demonstrated sales achievements in logistics or the supply chain industry, including connections with key decision-makers preferred Strong understanding of warehousing as a service, pricing models, and service offerings.
- Ability to price and structure commercial agreements, onboard new business, and effectively consult customers on their warehousing solutions
- Proficient with Warehouse Management Systems; Deposco, Mercury Gate, McLeod and Cargowise software preferred
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite products; experience with Microsoft Power BI a plus
- Six Sigma or continuous improvement and/or lean initiatives experience a plus
- Ability to strategically analyze opportunities to deliver continuous process improvements Strong leaderships skills with the ability to influence others to implement and manage change and continuous process improvement
- Ability to establish and implement operational procedures for all warehousing activities
- Ability to write reports and procedural manuals; analyze and manage financial reports and P&L
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high stress environment with constant interruptions and changes while meeting customer and company operational and business goals
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; bi-lingual Spanish a plus
