What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Associate position at R+L Global?
Warehouse Associate is responsible for performing a number of warehousing tasks, including order selection, pick and pack services, loading and unloading of inbound and outbound freight, and quality assurance. Additionally, this position will be required to operate warehouse equipment and ensure that freight is safe, undamaged, and matches corresponding shipping records.
Warehouse Associate responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Receiving, stocking, pulling, staging of freight
- Loading and unloading of inbound and outbound freight
- Ensure load quality
- Ensure load/gate times are met to prevent wait time charges
- Staging of container shipments
- Routing and distribution of freight to proper destination
- Operate warehouse machinery (e.g., forklift, reach truck, pallet jack); perform required safety checks
- Inspection of freight ensuring it matches bill of lading, checking any physical damages, shortages and/or overages
- Records apparent overages, shortages and damages to freight
- Ensure warehouse security, cleanliness and safety standards are adhered to
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-year experience in operating a standup reach truck in a warehouse setting
- Forklift certified and/or ability to obtain certification required
- Previous warehouse experience
- Previous experience in LTL, TL or Freight Forwarding environment preferred
- Understands basic warehousing, inventory and shipping procedures
- Ability to read bill of lading/manifest
- Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, some weighing up to 75 lbs
- Knowledge of warehouse machinery and other safety guidelines
- Ability to operate all job necessary equipment safely and efficiently
- Ability to maintain required forklift certification
- Knowledge of trailer loading procedures
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements in a warehouse environment
