Position Overview:
The Wyoming Department of Health, Behavioral Health Division, is seeking a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Medical Director to oversee and ensure compliance with medical standards, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement initiatives at the Wyoming Life Resource Center.
The selected candidate must be licensed in Wyoming, reside within 20 miles of the facility (mandatory), and have experience working in nursing facilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a licensed Medical Doctor (MD/DO) in Wyoming and provide a valid license.
- Must have at least 3 years of experience working with individuals with behavioral tendencies, preferably within a skilled nursing facility.
- Must be familiar with SNF standards, rules, and regulations.
- Must be readily available for potential interviews during SNF survey processes.
- Mandatory: Must reside within 20 miles of the Wyoming Life Resource Center.
- Must attend at least four (4) in-person Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) meetings per year at the facility.
- Must be willing to sign a contract with the State of Wyoming, Department of Health for an initial 2-year term, with possible extensions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance & Policy Development:
- Recommend and implement institutional policies, protocols, and workflows to maintain compliance with SNF standards, rules, and regulations.
- Assist in developing and updating clinical policies and procedures based on best practices.
- Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI):
- Serve as a clinical leader on the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) Committee and the Quality Assurance Committee.
- Attend at least four (4) in-person QAPI meetings per year and participate in discussions related to infection prevention, quality assurance, performance improvement, antibiotic stewardship, and resident care policies.
- Interpret medical data, identify trends, and guide quality improvement initiatives.
- Educate staff on quality improvement initiatives and new clinical guidelines.
- Communicate quality improvement findings to administration, staff, and residents, advocating for necessary changes to improve resident care.
- Medical Oversight & Compliance:
- Ensure adequate and appropriate medical provider services.
- Review practitioner credentials and oversee physicians and others performing physician-delegated tasks.
- Serve as the liaison between administration and attending medical providers.
- Act as a consultant to the Director of Nursing on matters related to resident care.
- SNF Survey Support & Clinical Audits:
- Be readily available for potential interviews during SNF surveys.
- Participate in SNF regulatory discussions as needed.
- Perform clinical audits and analyze patient care outcomes to identify areas for improvement.
- Stakeholder Communication & Liaison Role:
- Serve as the community liaison and represent the facility in discussions related to patient care and medical quality.
- Advocate for necessary policy changes to enhance resident care.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95.00 - $100.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
