What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Nursing Services position at R.L. Klein & Associates?
The City of Stamford is seeking proposals from qualified registered nurses (RN) possessing a
current nursing license in the State of Connecticut or firms with qualified nurses possessing
current nursing licenses to supply its Department of Health with nursing services. All nursing
personnel working for the Department of Health must possess a current Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR) certification and a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
A list of such duties covered under this scope of nursing services shall include, but may not be
limited to, the following:
- Working in the Department of Health Clinic during clinic hours.
- Promoting primary preventive health care services.
- Conducting intake and assessment and providing comprehensive Sexually Transmitted
Diseases (STD) services in accordance with the practices and procedures set forth in thefollowing Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) publications and
any updated version:
i. 2015 Sexually Transmitted Diseases Treatment Guidelines, at
http://www.cdc.gov/s1ditu2015/detault.htnt, and
ii. Program Operations Guidelines for STD Prevention at
http://www.cdc.gov/std/program/
- Providing Tuberculosis (TB)-related care in accordance with the practices, procedures
and guidance set forth in the following publications and any updated version:
i. Official American Thoracic Society/Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention/Infectious Diseases Society of America Clinical Practice Guidelines:
Treatment of Drug-Susceptible Tuberculosis, Clinical Infectious Diseases, August

ii. Standards of Care for Patients with Suspected and Confirmed Drug Susceptible

available at: www.ct.gov/dph/tbProviding early, periodic screening as needed of infants and any school children ages six
(6) weeks to 18 years or older as well as to adults.
- Evaluating, referring patients for further medical interventions when needed, and
following up on patients seen in the Department of Health’s clinic as necessary.
- Engaging and educating clinic patients and their families in order to decrease STD and
TB infection rates, increase immunization rates, reduce pediatric lead exposures, reduce
obesity, improve nutrition, reduce chronic diseases, and enhance health outcomes.
- Engaging and educating parents and guardians about childhood developmental
milestones, including anticipatory guidance.
- Educating parents/guardians and patients about disease prognosis, treatment, medications
and follow up.
- Linking clients to appropriate community services.
- Developing and conducting training programs.
- Demonstrating strong oral and written communication skills.

- Working collaboratively with diverse organizations and interests.

to requirements for continuing education and/or trainings and the confirmation and
documentation for such.
- Assisting nurses in the submission of reportable diseases report.
- Participating in current on-going health initiates within the Department of Health.
- Working with the City’s Nursing Administration, the City Medical Advisor and the
public health nurses to maintain local, state, and federal mandates.
- Performing any related duties that may be reasonably required by the City.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $37.82 - $42.01 per hour
