BACKGROUND
The Everett Police Department (EPD) seeks a qualified mental health services provider.
- Everett Police Department has over 190 sworn officers and 40 professional staff.
- Shifts: 12-hour, 10.5-hour, or 8-hour workdays. Start times: 5 a.m., 6 a.m., 5 p.m., or 6 p.m.
- Job stress increases risks for PTSD, anxiety, depression, and heart disease.
- Peer Support teams previously used for Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM); disbanded due to scientific evidence questioning efficacy.
- Support requested by first-level supervisors or Command Staff for traumatic incidents. Examples: Officer-involved shootings, emotional crimes, or accidents involving infants/adolescents.
KEY DELIVERABLES
- Initial and follow-up appointments to assist recovery from critical incidents.
- Appointments to occur:
-- Within 1–3 days after the incident.
-- No later than 1 week after the incident.
INDIVIDUAL APPOINTMENTS
- Provide appointments to affected officers and staff within one week of the incident.
- Locations:
-- At City premises in Everett.
-- Supplier's office (within 1-hour peak travel time from 3002 Wetmore Avenue, based on Google Maps).
- Appointment details:
-- Initial appointments: One hour long.
-- Optional follow-ups: One hour long, held in person or online.
- Topics discussed during sessions:
-- Self-care.
-- Symptoms requiring additional support.
-- Indicators of improvement.
-- Resources available after appointments.
SUPPLIER EXPERIENCE
- Required Experience: Certified psychologist in Washington State.
- Preferred Experience:
-- Experience treating vicarious trauma and PTSD.
-- Expertise in trauma-specific modalities, e.g., Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
-- Crisis intervention.
-- Working with clients post-trauma.
-- Accreditation with Regence or HMA insurance or ability to be credentialed.
