Job Summary:
The Grinder Operator Under general supervision, will be able to operate, setup and maintain all grinding machines and perform associated tasks to produce quality products for our customers in a cost-effective and timely manner.
**$1/hour shift premium for 2nd shift employees**
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate, set up and maintain all grinding machines.
- Meet & thrive to exceed setup times and run rates.
- Develop skills and knowledge of all methods of grinding.
- Ability to evaluate the effect of proper/improper grinding activity.
- Perform safe usage, handling and inspection of abrasive wheels and guarding requirements and work safely around grinders.
- Ability to properly dress grind wheels and identify when wheels need to be replaced. When the wheels need to be replaced notify team leader/supervisor.
- Notify supervisor/Team Leader if nonconformances are found.
- Adhere to all quality requirements and perform all required in-process checks and data collection inputs.
- Complete necessary paperwork and traveler documentation.
- Follow R&L workmanship and quality guidelines
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Abides by all R&L policies and procedures as stated in the Employee Handbook
- Abides by all R&L safety standards and requirements
- Learn all other processes that affect final product. Examples include press, shot peen and outside service.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to read and follow written work instructions
- Reading and understanding of customer blueprints
- Ability to use and understand electronic tablets for production data input.
- Ability to use and understand inspection measuring & and test equipment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Basic tool knowledge
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
- Preferred manufacturing experience
Physical Requirements:
- Required to stand, walk, and use hands regularly.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- May be exposed to high temperatures.
2nd shift hours:
Monday - Thursday from 3:30 pm to 12:00 am & Friday from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm
40 hours/week
Overtime available at times but never mandatory
