What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Manager position at R&N Manufacturing?

R&N Manufacturing, Ltd. is a premier supplier of custom steel process equipment for the oil, gas, petrochemical, and energy industries. The company has established itself as a leader in ASME pressure vessel fabrication on the Gulf Coast, thanks to its strong commitment to quality, timely deliveries, and excellent client relationships. R&N has successfully handled both small and large-scale projects, shipping products both domestically and internationally, with over 95 percent of its work coming from repeat customers.
R&N is currently looking for a full-time Quality Control Manager who can effectively manage the responsibilities listed below.
Job-Specific Responsibilities:
- Review ASME Code calculations and drawings to ensure compliance with codes.
- Read and assess project specifications to determine the appropriate fabrication procedures and requirements.
- Maintain National Board and serial number records.
- Implement all phases of project examination (NDE) and inspections.
- Prepare ASME U-1A data reports and partial data reports.
- Notify the Authorized Inspector (A.I.) of upcoming inspections.
- Issue Customer Inspection Notifications.
- Conduct hydro testing inspections and maintain related records.
- Oversee ASME Section IX welding records and inspections.
- Keep records of non-conformances.
- Manage Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) instructions, approvals, and records.
- Maintain calibration records on shop equipment.
- Revise the Quality Management System (QMS) as needed.
- Document and approve repairs and alterations per the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC).
- Conduct and report on internal audits and evaluations.
- Implement and enhance quality control operating procedures.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment problems and defects.
- Participate in routine visual inspections.
What We’re Looking For:
- A proactive and self-motivated individual with prior experience in quality control, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- A deep understanding of pressure vessel fabrication, steel material grades, and ASME Code of Construction is HIGHLY preferred.
- Familiarity with the National Board Inspection Code.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks independently.
- A common-sense approach to problem-solving.
