REQUIREMENTS
- Active Property & Casualty Insurance License
- 10 years of experience in underwriting, placing or working in commercial insurance
- Understanding of specialty coverage’s such as Fiduciary, D&O, EPLI, Ocean, Bonds, etc.
- Has obtained or is in the process of attaining AAI, AU, CPCU, CIC
- Strong computer navigation and data entry skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under time constraints in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
- Broad working knowledge of technical procedures in insurance coverages, procedures, and rating/coding
- Willingness to conduct frequent interactions with insurance company personnel and internal sales executives
- Strong problem-solving skills, willingness to take initiative, and solve problems of medium scope and complexity
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily accountabilities involve placing and marketing new middle-market commercial insurance to carriers and or wholesalers with the understanding that the program offered is the best for the customer in terms of coverage, price, and services. The ideal candidate will possess insurance company experience in such roles as underwriting, rating, or account management. This role will require solid negotiating skills including confidence to conduct tough discussions with company representatives, internally and externally. Must accurately provide quotations from all carriers requested, making few coverage/rating mistakes. Follows up aggressively with carriers who don’t respond promptly to resolve issues. Can advise support staff of procedures and can assist in training others. Consistently meets with insurance company personnel and producers to develop relationships. Analyzing new business applications, assisting in market selection, obtaining quotes utilizing insurance company internet rating programs. This position will be working closely with internal producers and maintaining the relationship with carriers to make sure that business is being placed accordingly.
