What are the responsibilities and job description for the Telecommunications Tower Technician position at R&R?
As a Tower Technician, you are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment on towers and other structures to ensure reliable internet and wireless services. You will be required to learn and maintain a working knowledge of the equipment used in network infrastructure, as well as the tools and safety procedures required for working at heights.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
· Install, repair, and maintain wireless communication equipment on towers, rooftops, and other elevated structures.
· Climb towers safely and perform work at heights following industry-standard protocols.
· Installed, aligned, and troubleshoot antennas, radios, fiber, coaxial cables, and other transmission equipment.
· Perform testing using spectrum analyzers, site masters, PIM testers, and other diagnostic tools.
· Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on tower equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
· Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of proper fall protection gear and PPE.
· Conduct Job Safety Assessments (JSA) before beginning work at each site.
· Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
· Followed OSHA, FCC, and company safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
Documentation and Reporting:
· Maintain accurate records of installations, inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
· Complete detailed reports on job status and work performed.
· Update site schematics and network diagrams as needed.
Work Environment and Expectations:
· Report to the designated office location according to your schedule unless noted otherwise.
· Upon arrival, review the day’s schedule and collect necessary equipment and materials.
· Participate in daily safety meetings and planning discussions before starting work.
· Restock unused parts and cleaning work vehicles at the end of each workday.
Requirements:
· Must be comfortable working at heights exceeding 100 feet.
· Must have a working smartphone with cellular data.
· Ability to work well as a team member.
· Ability to lift and move up to 80 lbs.
· Valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record.
· Must be able to identify wire and cable colors.
· Must be 21 or older.
· Must pass a background check and drug test.
