Summary:
Under general direction of a principal, provides leadership in an educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students. Provides supervision to students in a variety of school related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, develops, selects or modifies lesson plans to ensure all student needs are met, and maintains appropriate records and follows all policies and procedures of NCDPI and PCS. Provides quality standards-based instruction in the area of Architecture & Construction and Information Technology Education; assesses and encourages student progress, manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement.
Essential Duties
- Plan, organize, and teach a competency-based CTE program in carpentry and/or other construction pathways.
- Provides the bridge needed by all students to deal with major societal issues such as work-and-family, health care, child and elder care, family and community violence and crime, global economics and politics, and technology usage.
- Demonstrate effective classroom and computer lab management
- Assist in coordination of CTE Student Organization activities for local, regional, state and/or national competition
- Participates in field trips to post-secondary institutes, worksites, businesses and hands-on workshops
- Assist in development of and participate in activities designed to promote an innovative business and technology program
- Develop community and industry partnerships for students

Qualifications
- Candidates must have or be eligible for a CTE license in any area. Licensure information can be found here: www.ncpublicschools.org/licensure.
Term of Employment: 10 months
Required Degree Level: High School Diploma or GED, Associates, or Bachelors
- Examples of Related Degrees: Carpentry, Construction Management, Building Construction, Electrician, Electrical Trades, HVAC, Plumbing
Required Years of Work Experience for Alternative Licensure route: 6 years with High School Diploma or GED, 4 years with Associates or 2 years with Bachelors
- Examples of Related Work Experience: construction industry with demonstrated experience in the carpentry, electrical, and/or masonry fields, construction manager, electrician, mason, masonry installer, HVAC technician, plumber, previous teaching experience in this content area
Credentials Requirements:
- Prior to employment: OSHA 10-Hour Safety- Construction
- To continue in employment after hiring: NCCER Instructor Certified Training Program for Craft Professionals (CTE will provide training)
