What are the responsibilities and job description for the MECHANICAL ENGINEER position at R. T. Patterson Company?
RT Patterson has an immediate opening in our Evansville, IN regional office for a full-time mechanical engineer. Candidates should have a minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering. The candidate should have experience working in heavy industrial facilities, especially aluminum production and die casting, in addition to being able to perform the following responsibilities and meet the following requirements. Robotic cell design experience is a plus.
Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities :
Design systems and components that meet clients needs and requirements.
Identify, formulate, and produce effective solutions to emerging problems.
Evaluate the final products overall performance, reliability, and safety.
Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions.
Ensuring that products meet compliance with client and governmental regulations.
Collaborating with project managers and other engineers on our team and with our clients.
Creating plans and designs using CAD technology.
Prepare product reports, scopes of work, and other technical documentation.
Estimating budgets and time scopes for each project.
Supervision of a small team of engineers and designers on various mechanical projects.
Mechanical Engineer Requirements :
Proven working experience in mechanical engineering.
Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
Relevant experience (5-8 years) working in the mechanical engineering field in a heavy industrial setting.
Familiarity with die cast machine layout, processes, and operations.
Ability to analyze options and relevant test data / results.
Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Know the latest in Mechanical Engineering codes ASME, AWS and NFPA.
Ability to clearly document observations and existing field conditions.
Proficiency in oral and written communication to share technical knowledge in a clear, concise and understandable manner.
Creativity and analytical skills.
Extensive piping process experience is a plus. Working knowledge of pipe stress analysis software such as Caesar is preferred.
Superior computer skills, with solid experience in AutoCAD. (3D experience in Inventor preferred)
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Licensed as a professional engineer (Highly preferred)
Ability to interact with a variety of people from clients / owners to contractors.
Must be self-motivated and responsible.
No drivers license restrictions.
Ability to walk all around clients facilities for inspections, meetings, or other work.
