Job Summary
Warner Mechanical, a Division of R.W. Warner, Inc., is seeking a highly organized and proactive Onsite Material Manager to oversee all material-related activities on our job sites. This role is critical in ensuring that materials are procured, delivered, stored, tracked, and distributed efficiently to support seamless field operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction logistics, material handling, and coordination with suppliers, project teams, and field crews.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Material Planning & Procurement Support
- Collaborate with project management and procurement teams to forecast material needs based on project schedules and drawings.
- Coordinate material deliveries and ensure timely arrival to avoid project delays.
- Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and logistics partners to confirm orders and resolve issues.
Receiving & Inventory Management
- Receive, inspect, and verify material deliveries onsite for accuracy, quantity, and quality.
- Maintain an organized and up-to-date inventory system for all onsite materials.
- Report any material discrepancies, damages, or shortages promptly.
Storage & Distribution
- Ensure proper storage of materials to prevent damage, theft, or loss.
- Organize and label materials for easy identification and access by field crews.
- Distribute materials to various work areas in coordination with field supervisors.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate material logs, receiving reports, and inventory records.
- Track usage of key materials and provide weekly updates to the project team.
- Assist in documenting material usage for job costing and billing support.
Site Coordination & Safety
- Coordinate with superintendents and foremen to support daily construction activities.
- Ensure material handling practices comply with company and site-specific safety protocols.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized laydown yard or staging area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical training preferred.
- 3 years of experience in construction material management, preferably in mechanical or industrial contracting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and components (e.g., piping, valves, HVAC, sheet metal).
- Proficient with inventory management tools and Microsoft Excel
- Forklift certification or ability to become certified preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced construction environment.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily field-based on active construction sites.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and varying site environments.
- Occasional extended hours or weekend work may be required based on project needs.
Target Salary Range is $60,000 - $120,000 annually. Salary will be heavily dependent on experience.
